CBSA hires umpires as independent contractors.  That means that they are not employees of CBSA and will get a 1099 for tax purposes.

CBSA prefers to hire umpires by January or February of each year, months before the season actually begins.  This way the umpire, new or experienced, can attend our umpire training sessions in Feb. and March.

The minimum age to umpire at CBSA is 14.  CBSA will hire rookie umpires if they can attend the training sessions prior to the season starting and will hire experienced umpires throughout the season as needed.

If interested in umpiring for CBSA please follow these procedures:

1. Complete your registration and wait for your approval confirmation email.
2. List your availability for tournaments (dates will be online soon-select umps only) and send to Jeremy Maranan
3. Check the umpire schedule to confirm your game assignments – you will not receive confirmation by email or phone
4. Download a copy of the Umpire Manual and be prepared for your first day of work
5. Read the CBSA Rulebooks for baseball and softball before you begin umpiring
6. Contact the Director of Umpires if you have questions or require further information
